CLEAN ROMANCE RECS

Lately, I have been receiving one of my very favorite questions. Ever. Of all time. To infinity and beyond.
Do you have any clean romance book recommendations for me?
Oh my dear, you have come to the right place. Because, yes, of course I do. I’m single and a book nerd, basically all of my free time is spent reading just these types of books and obsessing over these types of authors. They are my very, very favorite, and I would be more than happy to share them with you.
And, what better time to be crafting this list than just before Christmas? I promise, a book by any of these authors would be the perfect gift to place underneath the tree for the lovable bookworm in your life.
Now, some of you may be asking, what does it mean for a book to be clean romance? I will happily answer that question, as well.
Such a book can be defined in many different terms. Some authors market their books as clean, others as closed-door, or sweet or spice-free. Whichever term the creator decides best fits their book or writing style, they all tend to have similar characteristics.
Basically, in my personal definition, when you pick up a clean or closed-door or sweet book, it means that there is little to no language in the book, and that the romantic encounters never go past kissing. No explicit details, just a book you would feel comfortable reading around your grandma 😂 Which I have done, so it really has been grandparent tested. You’re welcome in advance for my extensive efforts 😉
Now, as a clean romance book connoisseur, I have read across many genres, and as such, I plan to break up my favorite authors into these genres. Hopefully this will give you a better feel of what category you might want to start out in. I will not be going in-depth into why I love each and every author, because we would literally be here for days. Seriously. (And I have done it before, so I will link that blog post here. 😉)
I can assure you that if an author is on this list, I would recommend any of her books. Pick any in her backlog, and you will be whisked away from the real world in a jiffy.
So, without further ado, here are my favorite clean romance author recommendations.
Contemporary Teen
Now, in this category I am not saying that only teens can read these books, or that teens should only read from this author. Rather, I am saying the characters in this book are usually teens. I hope that clarifies things well 😁
Kasie West
Fantasy
Fantasy is a genre I have just recently rediscovered, and I am a so grateful to have clean books with a magical element to them. I hope that this is a list that will continue to grow.
CFE Black
Christian Romance
It left me stunned when sweet souls wished they could find more books like mine. I am humbled, and really should not be included in the category with these amazing authors, but if you are looking for more Christian Romance (before my next book comes out in 2026), here are some great ones:
Tiffany Odekirk
Haley Zaragoza
Dystopian
This was one of my favorite genres growing up as a kid, and I am forever bummed that it went out of style. Like fantasy, I am hoping to find more closed-door reads in this category.
Kortney Keisel
Contemporary Young Adult
Alright, here comes the big one 😂
Again, I am in no way saying that only Young Adults can read these books, but rather that the characters fall into that age group. Which, is probably why this part of the list will be so lengthy. I relate to the romantic woes of these female characters a lot 😂 Also, this is in no particular order.
Emma St. Clair
Jenny Proctor
Julie Christianson
Kortney Keisel
Savannah Scott
Carina Taylor
Melanie Jacobson
Courtney Walsh
Katie Bailey
Jess Mastorakos
Cindy Steel
Becky Monson
Gracie Ruth Mitchell
Martha Keyes
Jess Hellman
Kasey Stockton
Haley Zaragoza
Annah Conwell
Ok, so, I hope that is enough to get you started, and possibly to make someone’s Christmas dreams come true! I know whichever author you select you will adore just as much as I do.
Happy Reading! Merry Christmas!
